The Seasiders significantly halted their push for the promotional play-offs after a run of four straight league games without a victory.

They failed to produce in the final third in last three league outings and they’ll head into this off the back of a demolishing 4-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers.

Blackpool are now seven points shy of the top-six finish and the clash at Wham Stadium might be their last opportunity to catch up with fellow promotional contenders.

They will fancy their chances of arresting the above described slump in form here against Accrington given the hosts have also not been enjoying the best of forms of their won.

They took just one point from last two league games, a 1-1 draw to Southend United and a 0-1 defeat to Coventry City.

After a 2-0 away loss to Scunthorpe United, Accrington Stanley then gave up a two goal lead at the Stadium of Light as both sides shared a point each.

A 4-2 beating of Oxford United succeeded that encounter and Luke Armstrong scored the goal that sealed the win in the final minute of the tie, although they again played out a draw in the next fixture versus Southend United.

Billy Kee and Sean McConville are the joint top scorers at Accrington Stanley as of now with nine each, though the latter has scored only once in his last thirteen appearances, while Kee has netted twice in his last four.

McConville has made five assists this season and that puts at the summit and one ahead of Kee on the leaderboard in terms of creating for others.

Terry McPhillips side have been on the winning end of a result only once in their past five fixtures, with that victory coming on home soil to Walsall in the beginning of February.

That result was succeeded by a stalemate with Sunderland away from home, while the next outing ended scoreless between themselves and Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Blackpool have not scored in any of their last three matches and have suffered defeat in both of their past two, first versus Oxford United where the visitors scored the sole goal of the game just before half-time,

and in their last match Blackpool were torn apart by a ruthless Bristol Rovers team with Jonson Clarke-Harris netting a hat-trick in a 4-0 gruelling.

They won two and drew two in the process.

The Seasiders clinched a 3-2 victory when two teams met each other in mid-November last year at Bloomfield Road.
